About Namibia: About one-half of the population of Namibia lives below the international poverty line and the economy suffers greatly from the effects of HIV/AIDS. Namibia’s economy depends primarily on mining – it is the fourth largest exporter of non-fuel minerals in Africa and the world’s fifth largest producer of uranium.

Located south of the Equator, Namibia is in both the eastern and southern hemispheres and presents a brutally hot climate with the barren red-sand deserts, and the highest sand dunes in the world. All of western Namibia part of the 100,000 sq. mile Kalahari Desert. Along the coastal areas of that country it’s commonly referred to as the Namib Desert.  The desert plateau is criss-crossed by dry rivers beds and dense scrub. A few small mountain ranges are situated here.

Hennie and Rina Venter  (GMF Africa Director) organized the outreach in the pioneer area of Namibia adjacent to the Angolan border. Bro. Richard preached at the Kaisosi Baptist Church and held pastor training for area pastors there. Ginger taught the ladies during the week.

Discipleship Classes for Ladies: Ginger taught The Chronological Bible Study to ladies. This study is the content of the Bible taught by telling Bible stories in chronological order.  It is an aural teaching method which incorporates visual cues to aid listeners with mental organization and recall of Bible stories.

It was developed by Iva May (wife of Dr. Stan May) of Memphis,TN while serving as a missionary in Africa. Iva developed a colorful quilt with symbols that depict the major divisions of the Bible. The quilt serves as a visual aid for learning and remembering Bible stories so those taught can pass the stories on to others who are unable to read the Bible for themselves.
